Langkawi Sky Cab is one of the world's steepest cable car |
Langkawi Sky Cab, a Thrilling Experience
We continued our adventure in Langkawi to Machinchang Mount to try the Sky Cab and Sky Bridge. It took 20 minutes ride from the small harbor where our boat embarked after island hopping. The sky was grey and heavy rain fell to the earth. The weather in Langkawi is unpredictable since it was bright in the morning and it suddenly rained in the afternoon. We were so afraid that the Sky Cab and Sky Bridge would be closed because of the bad weather. But Allah is the Merciful. We prayed to Allah to have sunny weather when we got there and alhamdulillah , Allah granted our wish. We did not forget to sholat before entering the gate to praise Allah and say thank you. The surau /mosque near the gate, was clean and quite big.

The stunning view from the sky cab |
Before reaching the gate, there was a bunch of souvenir shops and food stalls. We chose to wander the souvenir shops later, so we walked straight to the ticket counter. Langkawi Sky Cab is one of the world's steepest cable cab. The ticket to ride the Sky Cab was 35 RM for foreigner adult and 20 RM for foreigner kids, while for local residences only 20RM for adult and 10 RM for kids . So we tried my fortune and practised my language skills when I watched Upin and Ipin , to speak in Melayu, the native language there. I almost got the 20RM ticket when the counter staff girl asked “Berape??” and we answered ,”Tige.” But when she asked us another question that we didn’t understand at all, we were caught in the act. She found my disguised and changed the ticket to the adult foreigner and we had to pay 35RM each huhuhuhu :(
Sky Cab was the highest cable car we’ve ever ridden. It was even higher than the Ngong Ping 360 Cable car
in Hong Kong. In fact, Langkawi Sky Cab Catch ride is one of the world's steepest Cable Car. I felt nauseous when I looked at it from a far. But I collected my guts to buy the ticket and showed off in front of my friends who seemed scared. Furthermore, I pushed them to ride the Sky Cab with me hehehehe. Before getting on the Sky Cab, we had to watch the not-so-important movie in the Sky Dome. Well, I guessed this Sky Dome was only for preventing the long queue. Then, the Sky Cab was coming, there were 2 kinds, i.e. the glass bottom (VIP) and the metal bottom. We chose to ride the metal bottom since my friends were afraid to ride the glass bottom one. (honestly, me too
hehehe).

Getting on the Sky Cab with a half heart hehehe |
Under my sky cab, we could see the green lush of tropical forest and even the Seven Wells Waterfall from distance. We could even gaze the Andaman Sea and the geological formation of islands near the Langkawi. The Sky Cab went up higher to Machinchang Mount and I saw the marble rocks around the mount. It was stunning. Moreover, we were able to feel the breeze inside. The ride took about 10 minutes to the first stop. It was high on the top of Machinchang Mount.

Andaman Sea and geological formation of islands near Langkawi island |
At the first stop of the Sky Cab, tourists could go up to the observing deck and took pictures there. We could see the amazing view of the Andaman sea and geological formation of islands near the Langkawi island. And of course to take a selfie too, hehehehe.

Sky Cab 2nd Stop to go to the Sky Bridge |
After observing the stunning view at the deck, we decided to continue our journey to the second stop where we could go up to the Sky Bridge.
Langkawi Sky Bridge, the Longest Curve Bridge in the World
After getting off from the Sky Cab, a man urged us to take our photos. We did not want to since our face were really scared of that Sky Cab riding experience. But unfortunately, we must face the steep way to go to the Sky Bridge.

The only way to go to Sky bridge, hundreds of steep and narrow stairs |
Reaching the second stop of the Sky Cab, we braced ourselves to climb up to the Sky Bridge. The authorities claim that Langkawi Sky Bridge is the longest curve bridge in the world. Well for me, it is the highest one. To go there, we needed to climb up and down hundreds of stairs since the inclinator is still being renovated. My ankle was hurt, as well as my knees. But we could not give up because we believed it would be worth it.
